Catholic HEART Workcamp
Catholic HEART Workcamp is about SERVICE, CONNECTION and LOVING OTHERS. Saint Eulalia Youth Ministry plans to bring a group to CHWC in the summer of 2023. It all started in 1993 in Orlando, FL with 100 participants and has grown to over 13,000 serving in 2017. CHWC provides parish youth groups, teens and adult leaders service opportunities to restore homes and HEARTS, feed the hungry, lift the spirits of children, bring joy to the elderly and disabled and offer assistance while partnering with social agencies. Each Workcamp is equipped with a summer staff, director, manager, musician, nurse and priests to celebrate mass/confession. It is a youth-friendly Christ-centered week of caring for others and becoming empowered by the joyful atmosphere when young people gather together! Catholic HEART Workcamp faithfully and enthusiastically serves the Roman Catholic Church and its teachings and is an excellent opportunity to “love the least of these”.

A local men's bible study group offers need-based scholarships to students (entering high school through just-graduated from high school) interested in traveling with School the World on their summer and spring break service trips. They are still taking applications for two summer trips to Honduras and will until their scholarships are filled. They do have Feb, March, and April 2023 trips but they aren't sure whether they will have funds for scholarships available for those trips. Their hope is that they're able to provide students with an opportunity to travel and have this life changing experience who otherwise would not be able to attend.
Trip 1: July 11 - 19, 2022
Trip 2: July 25 - August 2, 2022
Personal note from Jim: "I am in a Bible Study Group with a bunch of Winchester guys and we have committed to work with a group called School the World (STW) - https://schooltheworld.org/. We believe their mission to minister to poor Central American communities to reduce poverty through the Power of Education is life-changing for youth in the towns they serve. And the opportunity for Winchester/Arlington high school students to participate on service trips is a game-changer for many of them. My daughter went on spring break for 3 years – 10th, 11th, 12th and had a wonderful experience. Not only do the students help to build the schools (typically painting, some cement mixing etc…) but they spend time with young children in the community and spend a day with a family in the community. So, they get a different perspective on how blessed they are and how much they have while also developing their sense of service to others. All the guys in the Bible Study group (that raise the scholarship funds) are from Winchester, but we are happy to also recruit and help support students from Arlington as well."
