Photography and Poetry in the Modern World is a mini-retreat program. The program is designed for a small working group of up to 20 participants. It is modeled on the continuous presence of God in our lives.
Photography and
Poetry are two mediums which permeate our lives in many different ways. This program will use photography and poetry to examine and reflect our everyday lives, nature, those around us and methods for deepening spiritual understanding based on the use of words and images in our everyday modern world. Led by Michael Cunningham, this program is a key part of his doctoral studies at Catholic University of America.

What does it offer? Photography and Poetry in the Modern World includes three weekly small-group meetings with informative lectures, presentations and exercises that are completed individually during each gathering. All materials and support needed for the weekly meetings and are provided at no charge. No previous knowledge of photography or poetry are required, just a willingness to participate and engage in the program.
The project will consist of three short, evening retreats including a photographic workshop. There are two session to chose from:
Session 1: Tuesday evenings, January 23, 30 and February 6
OR
Session 2: Thursday evenings, February 1, 8 and 15
At the conclusion of the program, we hope retreatants will have a greater understanding of how images and words are a great means to deepen understanding of how God, or the transcendent operates actively in their lives.
While there is no charge to participate, it is critical participants can make all three retreat events and participate in an anonymous survey to measure it’s effectiveness.
